At the heart of our Reggio-inspired philosophy lies the belief that children are competent, creative learners who are capable of constructing their own understanding of the world.
Image of the Child
The foundation of Reggio-inspired learning lies the understanding of the image of the child, which views children as “strong, rich, and capable” individuals. Our role as educators is to understand and listen to each individual student and bring out the best in them.
Hundred Languages
The use of a child's hundred languages refers to the idea that every child has infinite potential to discover, learn, and communicate. It emphasizes the importance of providing children with many ways to share their thinking of the world around them. As children learn in a variety of ways, teachers ensure they provide many different means for learning and exploring.
Environment as the Third Teacher
We place high value on a learning environment that supports the development of inquiry, creativity, and free thought. Our spaces respect children as capable, independent learners by providing them with authentic and multi-purpose materials that encourage students to initiate and guide their own learning opportunities, taking agency of their learning.
Our classrooms are purposely and thoughtfully designed as open spaces with natural colours and light, to provide a calm, stable, and predictable working environment for our students. Our rooms are filled with student work and expressions, and artwork.
